02:14 pm - Me? An Adult? Are You Kidding?
You ever just feel lost? Almost like no matter what you do, you can't seem to find your way anywhere?

That's how I feel right now.

I know that my conversations aren't always "adult", but the "adult" conversations I have heard have all revolved around sex or sexual innuendos (like that's not high school!), politics (which this is one topic that you should never really discuss since it's such a heated one), work (yeah...I so have a job to talk about), the really horrible stuff on the news (yes, it's important, but it shouldn't be the only topic of conversation) or the weather (out here in the PNW, all we can talk about the weather is whether or not the rain will become hail).

When anyone reading this was a little kid, do you remember trying to sound like an adult when you and your friends were talking? I know I did. And, adult conversations with me involved sound like that 12 year old girl trying to be a grown up.

As a kid, I never really had the "teen" conversations. I was around a lot of adults and now, I can't have the "teen" conversations. I get it. I do. I'm just never taken seriously when I try to have adult conversations, so I don't try anymore.

I can handle "adult" conversations, but please don't ask me to give up my imagination. It is what has kept me going thru life. I'll have as many stupid, dull, boring "adult" conversations you want, but don't take my imagination.

My imagination is a HUGE part of who I am and without it, I am lost.

I was thinking about this recently myself. I feel awkward when I realize I'm actually getting into an "adult conversation" and I start to feel childish - but it's moreso because I have a difficult time expressing the things I think about out loud....

I know that feeling all too well. When "adults" start talking, I feel like I don't know what to say. It feels like I'm not intended to be a part of their conversation, even though they're the same age as me!
